Minimum Bet?

Postby Thelwell » Sun Feb 22, 2015 11:47 pm

Guys/gals my need for alternate BF software is due to their min. bet being $5 & as I mainly look for long priced horses, need to be able to bet $1 or $2 quite often, can this be done with your software? Thanks in advance :)

Yes, you can bet below the minimum stake using the software.

Please note that in order to achieve that it goes through a 3 step process (so fast that you won't notice each step unless there is an in-play delay).

Suppose you want to bet $1, just choose a $1 stake and click to send the bet at the price you want. In the background the software will actually do this:

1. It sends a bet for the minimum stake of $5 (at 1.01 if you want to lay, 990 if you want to back).
2. Cancels $4 of the bet, leaving $1 remaining.
3. Moves the remaining $1 to the price that you requested.

Kind regards,
Gavin

Betfair can suspend your account if you bet below minimum too often.

This. But quick one, is there a specific number on "too often"? Or is it just random?

Hi kittrad,

I have never seen any specific quantity in the Betfair rules. I guess they must realize that large numbers of greening bets are under the minimum size and so it is normal to make quite a lot of very small bets as part of a normal betting pattern, so I expect you'll be fine so long as you do a sensible amount of bets over the threshold.

If all you ever do is make small bets that are all under the minimum size, then that could be a red flag and might upset Betfair.

Kind regards,

Gavin

First post on here.

Just like to add that i have been using Betfair for ten years and not being a gambler but more a researcher and tester, my bets have mostly always been under the £2 minimum and I have never received anything from Betfair in respect of doing this.

If it was frowned on I do not think Betfair would allow software developers to incorporate this function.

I don't think that they care if you bet under the minimum, is just a myth
