Hi Gavin, great to see you're still around :) I always get slightly worried when I see you haven't posted in a little while. Always hoping at least that after creating such a fantastic software, you're simply enjoying a well earned holiday! :D I was with you previously(through different, lapsed account) and even though you have many competitors, if I buy any trading software, Cymatic will always be the one. 8-)

Anyway, as far as helping goes, it comes from the 1 issue I had not long after I'd activated the trial. All the markets went blank and some sort of message appeared across the bottom. After logging out before attempting to log back in, I had to go through a reset password process.. which I did, but then had to do again, and again, and again.. each time Cymatic would go blank. When this hassle didn't stop I went and checked my security settings on the main bf site which showed a bunch of "FAILED logins".. and I could actually see by refreshing the page there was a continuation of 3 "FAILED login" attempts per minute!!! Trying to establish the possible cause of this meant I changed the Cymatic streaming method to polling. After doing that I had no further problem? Any idea of the cause of this and how to fix it?? I can of course operate with polling but would prefer streaming by choice.

I suffered this too! Did you find a solution to this problem because it suspended my account during the trade process leaving me with a large liability?

Hi dwarv, my trial is over and I haven't yet purchased again(even though I intend to) so I couldn't test whether the problem remains. In any case, I was hoping to hear from Gavin on the this issue before making any attempt to switch back from the polling option. Did it also happen to you while you were streaming the prices, as opposed to polling? If not, then it means the problem isn't just attached to that particular setting.

Hello! Yes I was streaming prices. I'd layed a fav with the intention of trading out at a higher price but as soon as the lays where placed and taken, the software stopped responding. I tried the main website to find the account was locked due to 3 failed logins. So I was left with a lay bet when my intention was a trade. I can't use polling because it doesn't populate the charts with enough data. Very concerning because it can happen at any given time. The guy at betfair asked if I was using a 3rd party software and told me that its happening more times than it should. So I'm not confident to use for the time being.

It would be better if it didn't try to re connect because it would not lock the account and we could close out our position using the main betfair site.

Agreed. It's bad enough dealing with crappy ISPs that dip out whenever they damn please! but to have such an issue directly between api and host is even more alarming. :o Anyway, I'm confident enough to believe that Gavin and/or bf themselves will fix this problem.

Hi dwarv and Zenith,

I always suggest that users don't use 2-step authentication in the Betfair account settings if they intend to use third party API software such as Cymatic. The 2-step authentication is not that critical, in my opinion. Whereas, having the Cymatic (or other third party software) able to automatically recover your login session after a loss of connectivity, is very important. It can only do that without locking your account by accident, if you turn off 2-step authentication in the settings of your Betfair account on the website. Or you can change your Cymatic settings to use polling instead of streaming. However, streaming is better than polling and so the best choice is to keep streaming and just turn off 2-step authentication in your Betfair account.

Kind regards,

Gavin

Hey Gavin, the trouble is this happened to me WITHOUT the 2-step setting!! it was a recurring problem until I switched from streaming to polling. :?:
