Moving Averages

Postby Steve518 » Fri Feb 04, 2022 2:49 am

Hi

I could really do with a 200EMA, but the max I seem to be able to choose is only 100. Am I missing something? Or if this isn't possible, do you know of any way I might be able to mimic the 200?

Thanks very much for your help!

Hi Steve518,

The advanced charts only store the last 200 data points in each timeframe, so I'm not sure that plotting a 200 period period EMA would look useful on a chart because it would just be one data point.

Using the Excel integration feature and a bit of Excel experience, you could log the prices in Excel over as many data points as you like and then calculate the EMA in Excel and even plot a chart in there too. I think you might find a sample spreadsheet on the forum showing how to log prices in Excel, I seem to recall there being one.

Kind regards,

Gavin
