I successfully installed Cymatic on Linux. Here are a few tips.
1- I used PlayOnLinux instead of WineTricks.
2- In PlayOnLinux i created a 32 bits virtual drive.
3- I installed dotnet4 and Core Fonts.

Afterwards i successfully installed Cymatic, however, the numbers in the grid cells were totally unreadable, and the graphics didn't shown, so i reedited the virtual machine and added the following:

4- I installed IE8.

Now everything works perfect.

Hope this helps.

Hi Savage,

Thanks for those excellent instructions. That might help a user that contacted me yesterday about the same problem of the numbers in the grid not being fully visible. I knew it was a problem experienced by a small number of Windows users who had lost some fonts that should have been in Windows, generally the resolved it by downloading and re-installing fonts. If anyone is unable to download the fonts, then the problem may also be resolved by using the settings in Cymatic to increase the row height on the grid (File | Settings | Layout | Row Height).

Interesting to hear that installing IE8 did the trick for you.

Best wishes,

Gavin

Hello Gavin.

First os all, sorry for my bad english, and congratulations on your wonderfull work.

About the problems solved with the install of IE8, i don't think it were font issues, at least not missing fonts. The charts also din't work, because no lines appeared, not even the background grid. The IE8 installer must have installed some additional components that changed the way some objects are rendered on screen, and that solved the charts and the render of the fonts in grid display.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards.

Thanks to Savage for the advice above - it can be a but tricky getting things running in Linux but I finally worked it out following the steps he outlined

Had a little play in Demo mode and looking forward to giving it more of a go tomorrow with some real money

Thanks for the product and for supporting Linux users - to a degree at least

Hi Gavin,

I've been using the software on Windows and really appreciated it. I've tried Geeks Toy and Traderline before, but I got used to it, and I think that it's really faster, mainly comparing with Traderline.
But I needed to change my Windows notebook and, for now, I'm on a Lubuntu one.
I've tried the steps listed in the others posts, but I couldn't make the login. The IE window freezes.
I searched for a tip on this issue, but I couldn't find anyone.
Don't you of Cymatic plan to write a linux native version any soon?

Many thanks in advance for you time!

Hi cirojr,

Thanks for your comment, I am glad that you like the software.

There are currently no plans to release a Linux version.

You can simply use the Minimal Login option, instead of the Standard Login option. The Minimal Login does not use Internet Explorer.

I don't know why you had problems with Internet Explorer. It should work if you have the latest version with cookies allowed in its Internet Options. However, I recommend you to just use the Minimal Login option instead, which should work without any trouble.

Kind regards,

Gavin
