Tick Offset (Partial)

Can anyone explain how the Stakes per batch setting works?

Thank you!

Here is the relevant page in the online user manual:

http://www.cymatic.co.uk/UserManual/TickOffset.aspx

So for example if you set the value to £1:

If you get lots of little matches say £0.10 each, then the offset bet will not be sent until the cumulative size of all the small bets adds up to a total of at least £1 (the size of the batch of bets). So you would need 10 small matches of £0.10, before an offset bet would be sent and so forth for the next batch of small matches.

Likewise if you increase this number to £10, then it will wait to send the offset bet until at least £10 of partial matches have occured. If you total bet is £20, and it gets 10 matches of £1, then you would send an offset bets of £10, then wait for the remaining £10 to be matched before sending a second offset bet for the remaining amount.

Kind regards,

Gavin

Any chance of a percentage offset?

Say if I lay £10 but only want 50% offset at 3 ticks, another 25% at 4 ticks and then another 25% at 5 ticks.

Also an option to drag them around the ladder at a later time if the strategy doesn't pan out.

I know I am asking a lot but yours is the best software. Better than BetAngel, bloated Geeks Toy and ancient Gruss.

Hi JayBee,

I'll give that idea some thought, but one thing one could do is simply send it as 3 bets, £5 with a 3 tick offset, £2.5 with a 4 tick offset and £2.5 with a 5 tick offset. Although I realise that this would not be ideal if you are trading in a high speed manner.

You can drag the unmatched bets around, this was a recently added feature (in December). The tick offset settings will move with the bets, thus remaining the same distance in ticks.

Once a tick offset bet has been triggered and sent to Betfair, it can also be dragged around. The stop loss (indicated in orange on the ladder) can also be moved around by right-clicking above or below it in the same column as the orange bar.

Kind regards,

Gavin

Thanks Gavin, now this makes sense. One thing that happens a lot to me is when I place a bet, and lets say only $0.5 gets matched. I never get the offset bet to trigger leaving my position open for too long.
So is it better to set the minimum size to 0 (zero)? What are the pros and cons with this?
Only thing that comes to mind is the delay time of small bet sizes is 20 seconds instead of 8 or 9 seconds.

Hi Archytekt,

Yes, setting it to zero would cause all partial matches to be offset instantly, regardless of how small.

You are also correct that partial matches of less than £2 would take 3 times longer to be placed on the exchange in-play, so this might be one of the negatives depending on your point of view.

Kind regards,

The above point that I made previously, no longer applies. Betfair recently agreed to abolish the usual minimum stake for Cymatic users, so the Cymatic software no longer has to use three special steps to workaround the old minimum stake rule. This means that even very small bets are now submitted in just one step. So they are not slower than large bets anymore.
