error in lay bet using excel

Postby bujub » Tue Jun 23, 2020 12:52 pm

Hi Gavin

I have come across the following error when placing lay bets using EXCEL

2020-06-23 13:48:02.751 Wait: Failed to place bet. Error: BET_TAKEN_OR_LAPSED. No retries are allowed for this type of error. Bet Details: Lanika, L, £5.92 at 12.5

The stake is rounded to 2 decimal places, I can't spot why the error has occurred. The following was the command in excel
COMMAND ODDS STAKE STATUS
LAY 12.5 £5.92 FAILURE

Do you have any ideas what would have caused the error?

Thanks

had one similar in the previous race also:

2020-06-23 13:33:38.093 Wait: Failed to place bet. Error: ERROR_IN_ORDER. No retries are allowed for this type of error. Bet Details: Street Kid, L, £5 at 12.5

another one too:

2020-06-23 16:34:26.161 Wait: Failed to place bet. Error: ERROR_IN_ORDER. No retries are allowed for this type of error. Bet Details: Aasleagh Fawn, L, £6 at 13

I'm wondering if it is because the lay price moved above my requested odds

Just did a quick search on google ( https://docs.developer.betfair.com/disp ... ting+Enums )
and found the following: "The action failed because the parent order failed"

Hi bujub,

Along similar lines to what Nigel said, ERROR_IN_ORDER can mean that one of the orders contained within a batch of orders has failed (which might be a batch of just one order) so the whole batch has failed. The message will occur for example if there are insufficient funds in the account during that moment, to cover the liability of the bet, or if the market is currently suspended.

If you look into the status log tab in Cymatic, it will usually show the detail of the error, for example INSUFFICIENT_FUNDS:

2020-06-23 22:48:04.192 Wait: Failed to place bet. Error: INSUFFICIENT_FUNDS. No retries are allowed for this type of error. Bet Details: Miss Yachty, L, £5 at 5

You posted two examples that don't show any INSUFFICIENT_FUNDS message and just repeat the more general message ERROR_IN_ORDER, so I'm not certain what the problem was with the underlying bet.

The most likely scenario is that the market was suspended when you sent the bet, or the runner had been withdrawn. That would cause ERROR_IN_ORDER in the status log tab and in the Excel Report column. Markets can sometime be suspended very briefly.

It should not cause an error just because the lay price has moved above your requested odds.
