Calculating loss on a lay bet

Postby Mweyawa » Fri Nov 09, 2018 11:07 am

Hi Gavin. this probably sounds stupid, but I think I have been calculating my loss on lay bets wrongly for all these years. Say I bet £2.00 on lay odds of 4.1, my liability will be (4.1 - 1) x 2 = £6.20. So I have always assumed that my TOTAL (not nett) loss was £6.20. But, actually, is it £8.20 because I also lose my original stake of £2.00? Could you clarify for me, please? Many thanks, David

Hey.

Your liability is what you said first. 6.20.
At the odds of 2.10 you would lose 2.20
At the odds of 3.10 you would lose 4.20
At the odds of 4.10 you would lose 6.20

Always included your £2 !
