Hi Del. Yes, I would think LayTheField was written on a later version of Excel. You can now "hire" Microsoft Office from £5.99 per month here: https://products.office.com/en-gb/buy/office

Cymatic does not work with Open Office.

Regards,

Steve.

Steve: Thanks Steve for providing help to Del, I really appreciate it as I have been so busy.

Del: Yes you really need Excel 2007 or above to use all the features in the Lay the Field Spreadsheet, such as the COUNTIFS function which is used in that spreadsheet:

Excel compatible versions

although you can still use Excel 2003 if you edit the spreadsheet to replace the unsupported functions with their earlier equivalent functions:

Replacing COUNTIFS with the SUMPRODUCT function (for Excel 2003 support)

Open Office is not compatible with Cymatic.

Kind regards,

Gavin

Thanks Gavin for the info an suggestions. Still trying to decide just what my best options really are at this stage as I am not technical minded enough to start replacing Countifs with Sumproduct and I do so want to get involved with your LTF spreadsheet strategy. ;)
Best Regards,
Del.

Hi Del,

There are third party coders who could adapt the spreadsheet for you. Alternatively you could just upgrade your Excel (or rent the upgraded version as mentioned) so that you know you are using an Excel version that is fully compatible with Cymatic.

If you want a coder to help you with Excel, I can recommend Cym27 and his fees are reasonable. Please see the Find A Developer section of the forum.

Kind regards,

Gavin

..... Thanks Gavin. I have already asked Steve to carry out the necessary amendments. He has effected this today and I am glad to say that all appears to be now working perfectly. Still monitoring races tonight but it does look as if everything is now in place using Demo mode. Thanks again for your help I know that you must be very busy. Best Regards. Del.

Hello Gavin,

Is there a way to modify 'lapse' to 'persist' while using xls?

The thing is that sometimes I would upload my bets well before the off and if the bet is of lapse type then
it is cancelled when the market turns inplay.

Thank you.

Hi callmeant,

Yes, you can determine the persistence type of the bet, by including either LAPSE, KEEP, or TAKE-SP in the command line.

Here is the syntax of the BACK or LAY command

BACK/LAY [LAPSE][KEEP][TAKE-SP] [OFFSETx [STOPLOSSx [PLACEATx] [TRAIL]] [GREEN] ] [FILLORKILLx]

So for example, this would be a valid command to send a back bet that continues in play:

BACK KEEP

Once the bet is sent, if you later want to change its persistence type then you can do this with the UPDATE command, for example any of these would be valid commands:

UPDATE KEEP
UPDATE LAPSE
UPDATE TAKE-SP

This is as per the explanations in the following section of the user manual:
Cymatic Excel commands - user manual

Kind regards,

Gavin
